During its long operating history in Canada, Sherritt has contributed to many community-based initiatives, in particular through our Metals and Coal operations in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Employee Dependent Scholarships

Each year Sherritt provides scholarships to children of employees who wish to continue their education and attend a post-secondary institution. This program has proved to be highly successful, and in the past few years Sherritt has provided over 800 scholarships to students, with a total value approaching $2 million. 

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT)

In 2006, Sherritt committed $200,000 annually to NAIT until 2010, in support of the school’s general fund requirements and the establishment of the millwright shop. This annual contribution continued in 2008.
