David Pathe is president and CEO of Sherritt International Corporation, a world leader in the mining and refining of nickel from lateritic ores, with operations in Canada, Cuba and Madagascar.
Mr. Pathe joined Sherritt in June 2007 as Associate General Counsel and progressed through senior roles including Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary in October 2008; Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary in July 2009; and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in March 2011.
On January 1, 2012, Mr. Pathe was appointed to President and CEO, and oversees all of Sherritt’s operations. He has played an important role in enhancing Sherritt’s strategy to focus on strengthening its core businesses of being a low-cost global nickel producer, balanced with its unique Cuban energy business and Cuban oil.
Mr. Pathe has more than 15 years of corporate securities experience including financing, acquisitions,and divestitures. Prior to joining Sherritt, Mr. Pathe worked as a lawyer at Linklaters LLP in London and Paris and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Toronto.
Mr. Chambers joined Sherritt in June 2007 as managing director of finance and has since progressed through various roles within the company. He served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Vice President, Development. In 2012, Mr. Chambers was appointed to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
In his current role, Mr. Chambers is responsible for developing and executing the company’s financial reporting, planning, corporate finance and corporate development activities.
He has more than 35 years of experience working in a variety of finance and engineering functions. Prior to joining Sherritt, Mr. Chambers was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Dynatec Corporation, Treasurer at Falconbridge, and he spent 18 years with the Dow Chemical Group of Companies.
He holds a B.Eng (chemical) and management degree from McMaster University.
Mr. Snowden joined Sherritt in September 2012 as Director of
Finance and progressed through senior financial roles including
Corporate Controller and Vice President, Finance.
On January 1, 2017, Mr. Snowden was appointed to the position of
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In his current role, Mr. Snowden provides
leadership in all areas of financial management.
Prior to joining Sherritt, Mr. Snowden had 12 years' experience with Ernst & Young in the UK,
Australia, and Canada specializing in public company reporting and complex accounting
Andrew is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), a member of the Institute of
Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, and has a Bachelor of Science degree from the
University of Durham in England.
Mr. Wood joined Sherritt in April, 2015 as Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he is responsible for overseeing all operations, environment, health and safety, sustainability, technologies, engineering and marketing efforts for the company. Mr. Wood has extensive expertise in the mining industry, and has successfully led large operations, major capital projects, technical groups and strategic planning. Previously, he served as President and CEO of ArcelorMittal Mining Canada since 2013. He is a professional engineer, with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from Laurentian University, and a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining.
Ward Sellers was appointed Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary effective October 2013.
Mr. Sellers is responsible for the leadership and management of the overall legal affairs of the Corporation. He is also responsible for the corporate secretarial function. In addition, Mr. Sellers actively contributes to strategic planning and other key corporate processes.
Prior to joining the Corporation, Mr. Sellers was the co-chair of the M&A specialty group and head of the Montreal office’s corporate department of a large top-tier Canadian law firm since June 2006.
Mr. Sellers holds a bachelor of commerce (Hons), economics/finance from McGill University, and his LLB from the University of Toronto.
Karen Trenton is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Sherritt International Corporation.
Ms. Trenton joined Sherritt in February 2007 as Director of Organizational Development and progressed to Managing Director of Human Resources in 2008 and Vice President of Human Resources in 2012.
Currently, Ms. Trenton provides leadership to the enterprise-wide team of HR professionals to develop,implement and execute all aspect of HR services. The multi-functional HR team is responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining the talent necessary to achieve Sherritt’s goals and in building the high-performance culture necessary for future growth.
Ms. Trenton has over 20 years of experience in the areas of organizational and leadership development.Prior to joining Sherritt, she worked as a Human Resources leader at Coca-Cola Enterprises for 14 yearsand prior to that at Imperial Oil Limited.
She is a graduate from the Mount Royal University Public Relations and Journalism program and the Rotman Human Resources program. She is a member of the Human Resources Professional Association.
Mr. Dobson joined Sherritt as Senior Vice President, Ambatovy in February 2015 where he is responsible for the Ambatovy Nickel business in Madagascar. Mr. Dobson is a mining leader with extensive past experience in complex hydrometallurgical operations, including nickel laterite, in Australia and Papua New Guinea, along with corporate and board experience in the Australian mining sector. He is a professional Metallurgist with 28 years continuous mining industry experience, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy.
Elvin Saruk is currently the Senior Vice-President, Oil & Gas and Power where he is responsible for all operational matters including health and safety. The majority of the operations are in Cuba, where the focus is to continue operating the assets in a corporately responsible manner while developing and implementing new business opportunities for Sherritt. Mr. Saruk has over 30 years of experience in the Oil & Gas and Power businesses with Sherritt. He is a professional engineer, with a Bachelor of Engineering ( Chemical ) from the University of Alberta, and a member of APEGA.
Martin Vydra is the Senior Vice President, Commercial and Technologies.
Mr. Vydra was trained as a professional engineer with over 20 years of mining industry experience. During his career, he has worked with nickel, cobalt, zinc, copper, gold and molybdenum operations in Australia, South America, China, Africa, and Cuba.
Prior to his role as Senior Vice President of the Moa Joint Venture, Martin has held various roles at Sherritt including leadership of Sherritt’s commodity nickel and cobalt marketing business from 2007 to 2011, various operations roles and oversight of Sherritt’s participation in the Sulawesi project in Indonesia.
